Cardboard Containers for making yourself
We would like to give all friends of scales models the opportunity to build one part of ships equipment themselves. No other part for transportation has changed the appearance of cargo ships in such way than containers. Therefore we took those "tin boxes" for container vessels to be built in arbitrary number by yourself. To handel these cardboard containers, we reduced the downloadables to model ship typicall scales. For we know there are lots of railroad / railway fans all around the world, we added some typical model railroad scales H0 and N so one can add them to their own model railway installation.

Material and Tool:
Cardboard/paper Adhesive/Glue Scissors/ Shears
For printing out, stronger paper than usually used is required. The specialist speaks of cardboard with 160 gram/square meter. (Usual printer paper has 80 g/sm). This is necessary to give the container some firmness and to keep them in shape. For fixing he parts together, cyanoacrylate adhesive works best. This adhesive dries very fast for it belongs to to the kind of "second adhesives". But it has the disadventage that it sticks fingers together also. Thus caution is required. Absolutely consider the reffering of the packing/tube! For cutting out small sharp shears are necessary for small corners must be cut out. Bigger office shears are not suitable.

This is the way it is made: Print out desired container on cardboard. Cut out accordingly to the outlines. Groove all folding lines on the back of the container first. This will ensure sharp edges afterwards. Fold all creases once before glueing to get sharp outlines. Glue the side parts to the narrow front side first. Then glue the broad front side to the sides. At least glue the bottom at the same time to the side parts and the front.

Finished

To prepare the container for the hard environmental conditions of a model ship, the objects can be covered with clear lacquer spray. For railway use this will not be necessary.

Here you can find a selection of containers provided so far

Further container types will follow for we will develop the series continuously.

Bürocontainer We developed an office container that won't fit on a container ship but is a genuine enriching for every model railway. Therefore it is only available in H0 scale. You can also put or glue containers side by side so you would get a whole container village if you like.
